Default Animals and the rapture

I've been worried lately about my dogs. If we are raptured and I'm not home, we'd all be gone and my dogs would be stuck in their crates at home, only to experience a slow death. I have been praying lately that if the rapture happens when my pups are still alive, that Jesus would remember them and take them, too. There's nothing in scripture to say that the animals will come with us. I told my husband the other day that if we hear trumpets and we are at home, I'm grabbing the baby and one of the dogs, anf he can grab the other one so hopefully they'll come with us.... Anyone ever think of these things?

There was a thread on this earlier this year - http://rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=78...t=pets+rapture - the subject crops up regularly, so you might find some others if you do a search.

Are you hoping your animals will be raptured? If they were, what would that say to those left behind and salvation? If animals of believers were raptured, wouldn't that be unfair to those innocent animals left behind? Can you be happy in heaven without your pets? Will God be enough?

I understand that you love your animals. I love mine too. But, if a Christian man jumps in his car when he hears the trumpet, will he have the time to hang on tight to his Ferrari and take it with him? Would he be able to take that with him? I think it is pretty safe to say that he won't have the time and the ferrari won't be going to Heaven and he might even be judged for trying to take it with him. Trust in God. We can't take the things of this world with us. If dogs are meant to go, then they will go with us. I don't want anything holding me back from Jesus. I trust God to care for my animals. Have faith!

I love dogs, I miss mine. They both died a few years back. But to answer your question, no, animals won't be taken in the rapture. Only saved humans are going to be taken. The bible doesn't mention animals in the rapture because they wont be. I'm not saying this to be mean, it's just not what the rapture is about.

I have heard some wonderful discussions on this, and have my hopes set on the hope that just like when the children of Israel left Egypt, they wouldn't leave without their animals. Yes, they were for their sacrifices on the alter, but for us they glorify God by their mere existence, and the joy they give us, just a thought I need to hang on to.

I find it hard to compare a living, breathing animal with a materialistic possession........ I know that it says in scripture that not even a sparrow falls from the tree without the Lord aware, and I know He will take care of His animals. I guess I just need to trust the Lord. Maybe he will just take their lives in that instant so they don't have to die starving and dehydrating in a crate....... I don't have any neighbors or family nearby (that aren't saved, that is) that would find them...... I'm sure God will give me peace about it. I just worry about them.....

I understand your worry. I worry about mine too. I know of not one person (who will be left behind) that would be willing to look after them. I do not believe animals will be included in the rapture BUT I do have faith in the Lord's plan for all things (including my beloved dogs).

I totally understand how you're feeling. I am saddened as well at the thought of my birds starving to death in their cages. I have 7 parrots and 3 chickens.

Our little chap is one of these (don't ask me which one as he is much bigger than this now).

She's a Shiba Inu. The best way I can explain their looks is sort of like a fox; yet, sort of like a husky. My neighbor just refers to her as my fox hound.

They are a very cute breed and their fur is sooooo soft.

Oh my word - you have just filled my cuteness quota for today with those little ones. How sweet.

I would not worry about our pets. "God is good all the time and all the time God is good" That may not answer your question specifically as we can only speculate as to "how" God will accomplish the care of our pets but I feel sure they will not slowly die an agonizing death in their crates.

Mark777;

Great choice! We have a Shiba too. Ours is the white with a little orange/tan.

I guess they're a minature Akita, but a better description is a cross between an artic fox, siberian husky, and a teddybear.

Is yours cat-like too (very independent but is a slave to cheeze)?

Hi Wally,

I believe Shibas are a part of the family of dogs from Japan which include Akitas (largest) and Chows (medium).

The teddy bear reference is so true too! lol!

Cat-like is a very good way to explain their behavior. She loves to play and generally has a happy-go-lucky temperament. That being said, she is very easily distracted and it's hard to get her attention when she sets her curiosity on something. She flat out does what she wants when she wants. This isn't a dog I'd trust to be off the leash for 2 seconds out in public.

EDIT: I just noticed your dog in your profile pic. She's beautiful!

My apologies about the ferrari and dog comparison. I was making a point about things of this world. I have three cats and a dog and I too love them very much. I leave my dogs crate open and make sure that I have the big jugs of water and food feeders for each of them. Just in case they don't go. I figure when everyone disappears that they will do another census or check houses to see whos left. So if you can get them through a few days or a week until that happens, they should be found relatively quickly. That is why I keep those water jugs and food jugs filled up and my dogs crate open. Luckily, my pets are not destructive. I also keep a note in my purse so that if anything happens to me or my family, someone will check in on them.

That says it all: "God is good and all the time God is good" Why should I worry with words like that?
