I have 2 interests, well 3 including you! LOL.

My dh is a polysomnographic technician (try saying that 3 times fast!). In layman's terms, he is a sleep tech and works in a sleep disorders center. He has done this for over 20 years. Also, he keeps hounding me to have a sleep study because he says I snore and stop breathing in my sleep. I know I really need to go, I am just scared. Mostly that I wont' be able to sleep at all because I rarely sleep in any bed other than my own due to pain. Also, feel weird about people watching me sleep, although my dh could be my tech!

Let me know how your study goes!
I will let you know. I'm not confident of actually being able to fall asleep however the sleep physician I will be seeing has assured me that if I don't they can actually arrange a sleep study at home in the comfort of my own bed! Awesome! I am pretty sure I have sleep apnoea. I NEVER wake up feeling refreshed and need a LOT of sleep - up to 12-14 hours per day which is just so abnormal. I am TIRED of being tired!! It does take a while to get used to a CPAP machine so I've been told and also adjusting the different pressures etc. I won't hesitate to persevere if I need it because I know 2 people on CPAP and their lives have been changed so much without the constant tiredness and their fibro symptoms have more or less gone. Muscles need LOTS of oxygen and if your supply is constantly being cut off it only stands to reason they're going to ache. There are some great trials being done in Australia right now linking sleep apnoea to both fibromyalgia, obesity and also atrial fibrillation (heart rhythm condition). I will sure post back about my test results after I've had it. (early January). Mishk.

I am booked for a sleep study in around a month. I must admit I do sometimes wake myself up snoring. I don't have a husband so there's nobody to tell me if I snore or not - mind you - you don't have to be a snorer to suffer from sleep apnoea. It is one of the main reasons for feeling tired and sleepy during the day and totally unrefreshed after a night of sleep. I will post back about my findings. I've just also started to suffer a little bit of high blood pressure - which is also associated with sleep apnoea so it will be interesting to see what the results are. Mishk

Yes, had one done and now on the cpap. Can't really get used to it though. Wake up around 3:00 and take it off. My mom, dad and brother have sleep apnea and they love their machines.... ugh and they all feel better.
