Default Sssh! Don't tell CPS

I feel awful saying this, but my daughter's been wicked sick with the flu and bronchitiis all week. Sicker than she's ever been. We spent all Sunday afternoon in the ER with her. And the kids at school all say that if they get Swine Flu, they'll die. So she was a bit nervous until we saw the doctor.

And she really felt awful. But I'm selfish enough that the last couple days have been a lot of fun with her home. My son had a cough, sniffle and headache, so I've kept him too.

I love my kids. They're great, even when they argue, leave snot rags all over the house and cough up phlegm balls the size of small frogs.

And if they don't feel well this school year, I'm keeping them home. With the nasty viruses going around, and depressed immune systems from this 'disease that mimics flu but isn't being tested for or labelled as such in Broome County NY' I'm not taking any chances.

Which all boils down to: my kids will get to stay home with me more!!

lol, i know what you mean! when we were having that lice problem with the oldest a few weeks ago, it was frustrating.... but i got to spend a lot of time with her since i couldn't send her to school. (and i had to nit-pick for hours at a time)

but even when she is feeling under the weather and has to stay home from school, its just nice to have her around during the day

Urrrrgh. I hate lice. We had that last year. Hope you're done with it Icebear.

I got some great preventative stuff that I used on my kids last year. It's called QuitNits and is completely natural.

My son has been home with me yesterday and today. I sent him off to science camp on Monday, just to have to drive up Wednesday night and get him because he had a fever and if any child gets over 100 they automatically get sent home. Waste of money for us, and it meant 6 hours in the car, but I have to say, I missed him so much that I didn't care. I had him home on my birthday and got to enjoy taking care of him and snuggling him....and this morning we have talked and laughed. We are pulling him out next year to homeschool him, which means more time together, and hopefully less illnesses because he won't be in the petri dish (school).

I don't get why MS Word has both a "New File" and "Save" option.

I never regretted homeschooling. We kept our own schedule and I got to see my kids every day! They might have gotten tired of me though.

Nothing like the spending money for a sick kid. I know it doesn't matter, really, but there's always a wallet looming over my should going

I'm glad he was home for your birthday.

Hope he feels better soon. My son went back to school today, and seems ok. My daughter though.

She's better, but was helping a friend red up the house and just coughed and choked. Got all pale. At this rate I may not even send her Monday.

I've considered homeschooling my daughter. The problem is she doesn't learn well from me at all. She looks at me like and I look at her like

Quite a comeuppance for a 'professional teacher'

God bless you for managing.

Keeping kids at home can be fun. I kept my youngest home several times when he was in high school. He wasn't ill either. I just told the school we needed a personal day. The two of us went cross country skiing.

I guess you should be careful what you wish for! Both my girls have the flu now. I was home with them all day yesterday and will be home this afternoon (DH and I are tag teaming since we both had to work, at least a little, today) and I will be home with them tomorrow. I love being home with them but I feel so bad for my poor babies

So sorry. Been there done that. My daughter is praying.

Fortunately I'm not working right now so it doesn't matter.
