Thread: rapture talk at work!

  1. rapture talk at work!

Well I am not really sure where the kids are getting it--at home(from the news/parents), at school, or both, but generally all of the kids I work with believe that the world is going to end because of global warming.

My job is to help them with their homework. They have little study groups and I lead them. Sometimes they ask current event questions and today, like many other days, the kids asked about global warming. They never ask what exactly it is or if it is actually true...instead they ask what they can do to stop it. They are genuinely worried about it.

So the kids start naming stuff like recycling, carpooling, etc. and I started praying. I asked God if there was anything I could say to stop them from believing that global warming is a problem. I really hate that they have been so deceived. When I mention stuff like how not all scientists agree it is true, they kind of look at me like I've lost my mind. Well within about 15 seconds of praying, while the kids were still talking about global warming, a girl in my group randomly started talking REAL loud and interrupted all of the kids. She didn't just start talking about anything though...she started talking about the rapture!!!! I was so excited!!! she must have rambled about it for ten whole minutes, completely ending the global warming talk. She even started talking about the mark of the beast and how she learned that it is bad to take it and she started talking about the RFID chip. this girl is twelve! she usually only talks about her clothes and boys. it was so unexpected, but I was so relieved and grateful! Praise God!!

I just wanted to share because I have been working there all year and I have had to deal with these poor kids asking me questions about the world ending day in and day out. It is really difficult to talk to them sometimes because of the religion rules in the school system. Don't get me wrong, I do talk about it when I can...but there are just a lot of situations when I cannot. However, when the KIDS are the ones talking about it, and in this case practically preaching it, no one can tell me that I'm offending anyone or breaking any rules
If God is for us, who can be against us?

I hope she influenced the other kids, too! I would love more than anything to help lead some of them to Christ, but I have had a few kids get pretty offended when we started discussing religion, even when I was just stating the facts...not pushing anything on them. Just talking.

All of the kids know I am Christian and they know what I believe and how I act. Since I can't really talk to them much, I just pray that I will be a role model for them and that they will associate my behavior/life with what I believe.

I hope all their ears were burning and they'll start researching the rapture instead of worrying about global warming!

This was a great event, elpnvn, thanks for sharing!

    What a wonderful story!

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

    1. Jesus Christ
    2. The American Soldier

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom....
Some Heroes wear capes, one of Mine wears COMBAT BOOTS and the Other is sitting at the right hand of God!

Thats awesome...I know some of my students are reading the Left Behind series and sometimes get into discussions in class about that...Nothing gets the attention faster in my class than the topic of Jesus and end times and thats at a public school...these kids are so hungry for truth...
