Default How Smart Is Your Right Foot?

How Smart Is Your Right Foot?

    ==============================

Just try this. It is from an orthopedic surgeon. This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your right foot - but you can't.

    It's preprogrammed in your brain!

    1. WITHOUT anyone watching you - they will think you are GOOFY, and while sitting where you are at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it.

    2. Now, while doing this, draw the number six in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so! And there's nothing you can do about it!
You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done, you are going to try it again, if haven't already done so.

    You're right. How annoying.

It happened to me, too - but when I tried *really* slow I was able to keep my foot moving clockwise. However, it took a lot of concentration, and sure wasn't very fast.

What was REALLY annoying is that I actually tried it.

I found it depends on how you draw the figure six.

If you start from the top arc and then make the lower loop, the foot reverses direction, but not if you start with the lower loop and then continue up to the top arc.

The whole point is that you cannot do two simultanious actions in opposite rotational directions with your right foot and your right hand. So before you claim to have beaten this one (I really don't know if it is possible or not for anyone to do it) make sure that you are going CLOCKWISE with your foot and that you are drawing the six so that you end up going COUNTERCLOCKWISE with your finger.

According the neurologists you should not be able to maintain the clockwise rotation of the foot if you do the figure six right with your finger, which means starting at the top so that you end up doing the loop at the bottom in the counterclockwise direction.

This is supposed to be hard wired into all of our brains. But I won't totally discount the possibility that there could be a few who are not wired the same as the rest of us.

If I spin my foot/lower leg it is possible,
if I just twirl my toes, keeping my leg stiff...no way.

    lol

OK??? Never a dull moment! I actually tried it several times. Thought I could beat the trick. The only way is to do the 6 clockwise. I couldn't do it any other way. Cool!!

    Especially here in AG!

I tried and can't do it so I guess that means I'm normal.

    Default I cheated, but...

I outsmarted my right foot! I drew a circle clockwise with my hand and still going clockwise, drew the stem. Yea, if that makes any sense.

    I don't play fair.
