Two key White House aides were both convinced they were being punked when they heard the news, reported ABC News' George Stephanopoulos.

"It's not April 1, is it?" one said.

Upon being called by ABC News at 5:45 ET this morning, a White House aide said, "This better be good."

When told by ABC News that the president had won the Nobel Peace Prize, the aide replied: "Oh, that is good."

This is utterly laughable. I haven't read all the replies here so don't know if someone has mentioned this already, but my understanding is that the deadline for nominations was 2 weeks after Obama was in office. What in two weeks did he do to even earn a nomination? All he had done up to that point is run for President.

WAY TO GO! on your analysis and observations. This was one of the first parts I fell across that told me there is a skunk in the mix. This is not reasonable or fair.

Well, he's done nothing good. He's done a lot to destabilize this country houwever. Maybe that's why they gave him the award. For his efforts to remove America from being a world power.

It's my feeling that the Peace Prize was awarded to BO with an underlying purpose, i.e., knowing how his mind works and how much he thrives on praise and adoration.

Right now he's thinking, "Uh, uh, look...if they think I'm a big peacemaker then, by golly, I've gotta be a big peacemaker...regardless of the outcome."
