IMHO, everyone needs access to healthcare, however a government run, single payer solution shouldn't be a requirement to implement reform.
I find this outrageous. Am I overreacting?
Our churches won't touch politics, would never dream of telling you which politicians don't back Christian values -- lest they lose their non-profit tax status....but it's OK to lobby for big government??
http://calms.umc.org/2008/Menu.aspx?...gle&number=568While current legislation does not include a single-payer system, ensuring that a strong public option is a necessity for reform reflects our values
http://cnsite.brickriver.com/news_de...p?pkvalue=1510Single Payer. We call for swift passage of legislation which will entitle all persons within the borders of the United States to the provision of health care services, the cost of such services to be equally shared by American taxpayers, and the government to distribute the funds to providers in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.
...urges United Methodists to exert influence through all structures and means "to connectionally advocate and fervently lobby the federal government for the adoption and implementation of a totally nonprofit health-insurance system, a single-payer system administered by the federal government."
