Doug Pagitt uses Regina Spektor song to attack Kevin deYoung and Todd Friel

this is from Doug Pagitt's blog and website:

    QUOTE:

Laughing With Timmy Lyles turned me on to this.

I know that my atheist friends would have a hard time with the this, unless they listen all the way, because it could sound like the “there are no atheist in a fox hole” argument which is really offensive to them (it implies that someday they will believe in God when life get’s hard). But I don’t think this is what she is saying in the song. I think she is saying more insightful, I think, but who am I to say what she means. I just don’t mean that.

Here is the youtube video and I put the words below for those who like that sort of thing. My favorite line is in the chorus about the crazies (and I know a bunch of them read this). That line made me think of Ken, Todd, and Kevin.

another un-called for cheap shot at Todd Friel and Ken Silva and

and Kevin deYoung who BTW is one of the authors of the book

where is the emergent compassion and open mindedness toward others opinions?

BTW this making cheap-shots is nothing new for Pagitt:

    (see) POST 4 at http://rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=99978

    like I said then:

billiefan2000 thinks Mr. Pagitt dont like Silva or DeYoung or Friel or others questioning his theology.

but I thought emergents say we are to question everything and everyone

but than again, emergents dont believe in absolutes,

so that may explain the double standard on Pagitt on some things

    BTW;

this once again proves how truthful the post at

    http://rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=74126

    called

Here is a hilarious yet on point glossary of emergent church terms

actually may be more truthful than funny

Anger - Disagreement by outsiders (Oh wait, I almost forgot. There is no “inside” and “outside.”

Please invent your own term for this concept.) with emerging church presuppositions (does not refer to hostile feelings within the emergent conversation toward theological and political conservatives).

Criticism - 1. Something to which we must be radically open when given by non-Christians.

    2. Something to which we must be absolutely closed when given by conservative Christians.

    3. Something conservative Christians should accept from us.

    # Fundamentalists - People we have a right to express hatred of in our blogs.

    # Misrepresentation - Any statement about the emerging church made by unenlightened Evangelicals who do not endorse the conversation.

    # Oversimplification - Any attempt by outsiders to describe the emerging church conversation.

    # Truth - Whatever we say it is.
    # Wacko - (see “conservative”)

I am posting this cause Pagitt 's un-called for attacks on Friel and DeYoung prove those terms about the emergent church maybe more right than we think
