  • Poem- "If I should Die"

    "If I Should Die"

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
Please know I entered Heaven's gate

If I should pass this very night,
please know that I am doing alright.

If I should not see tomorrow,
please don't cry, I've no more sorrow.

If I should leave this earthly place,
then I have gone in God's good grace.

If I should breath one last time,
I'm with the Lord and breathing fine.

If I don't stir when you call my name,
please know that Jesus finally came.

And if I should die before I wake,
please know the Lord did not forsake.
He promised me that I could be,
    with him for all eternity.

    The End
    Coco

nice job, cocopea--helps one to focus on seeing saved loved ones again

Thank you, Mary Rae, for your lovely picture!

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

      thank you Tiger

You know, there should never be a big question mark as to where you go when you take your last breath. That is what I was thinking when I wrote this....

My 5 yr old son died on February 22, 2004. He died in his sleep. I called his name to wake him, but Jesus had already come for him. You know he asked me about what would happen when he died, about a week before. I laughed and told him that he would finally meet the Jesus we talked so much about, he would be sooooo happy, and that Jesus had already prepared a place for him. He actually started to cry and said that he would not be happy in heaven unless that heavenly home was just like ours. I'm crying as I type this, but even though we miss him so much, I would never ask him to come back. He's home. And I can't wait to go home either. Suffering such a profound loss can break people, yet the best examples of Jesus' love I have ever found are those who have suffered deeply. I hope I am nearby when Jesus gives your son back to you.

Oh my, how powerfully sad and yet magnificently wonderfully. Oh BelovedofChrist, I know you must miss him so-- and yet to know if you could-- you would never want him back here because he is with Jesus is simply beautiful.....Our children, our loved ones can be in no better place. Thank you for sharing that and may the Lord continue to comfort your heart knowing that yes, yes you will soon see your precious beloved baby once again....I pray so soon.

I often think about my mom, that she and my father are safe where they are right now, and for them it is as tho we are just 'out' for yet a little while, and it helps so much.

The poem is beautiful, Coco; I really just wanted to tell you how amazing it is that the Holy Spirit inspired you to speak my story, and to post it on that particular day! He really is something! And just to let you all know, when I was in those first days of grieving, I could FEEL the prayers for us. They were almost literally holding us up. Prayer is a very powerful thing. If you find yourself at a loss on what to do for someone, don't be embarrassed if it's just your prayers that you can give. Like chocolate, it's perfect for every occasion. And if my son John is anything like he used to be, his first words to you Greybeard will be: "Hey you, let me ask you a question..."

...wow that is amazing, and thank you. And funny you should mention this, because just today I did post a prayer request asking for much needed prayer--but for myself because I find I am at a total loss on what to do..... period. And I know the BIC and SIC are some mighty powerful prayer warriors. They can lift me up when I am down, and without them I don't know how I would manage. And your post is a perfect example of how I can post something, but the blessing actually comes to me.....

And you know what else, I bet you John won't need to ask any questions, because he knows more than we do now!
