Combining RR-BB.com into RaptureForums.com

Because it has become insanely difficult to manage a bulletin board these days, the managers of Rapture Ready and Rapture Forums have decided to join our boards together under a software program that is easier to manage. Because RF has their database operating well under an Enforo license, we decided to make Rapture Forums the focal point of a consolidation. Since Chris, the owner of RF, has long experience in running a forum, he can better manage the problems that come with this technology.

If you do not have an account at https://www.raptureforums.com/forums/, please sign up. By the end of November, it will become the forward address of RR-BB.com

  • Bible-Based Phrases and Sayings: A-Z Consolidated List

This is a consolidated list of common phrases and sayings which are directly quoted from or are based on Bible passages. The majority of the entries were gleaned from various Internet lists, although some other Rapture Ready members and I added several more. Many phrases have only a small number of passages when there are actually more or even many more in the Bible. I also added quite a few more passages on many entries than you might find in a typical online list--that might make for some interesting Bible study material if you are so inclined. Also, a number of the entries are included not necessarily because they are common phrases, but because they have been used as book, movie or song titles. I have also identified some entries that are mistakenly believed to be in the Bible.

It is fascinating to get a glimpse of how the Bible has influenced our language over the centuries. I hope you, like me, enjoy discovering some sayings that you had no idea were from the Bible. Enjoy!

By the way, while this list is being posted separately (to keep it at the top of a thread for easy access), you can find the original thread with completed Bible verses at http://rr-bb.com/showthread.php?1809...From-the-Bible.

Thank you, Mary Rae, for your lovely picture!

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

        Great list! Good job!

I've got another entry for your consideration: "Beam in your eye" is often used when speaking about hypocritical accusers who are themselves guilty of the same accusation. From Matthew 7:3-5 KJV:

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
