                  • The outlook, the uplook and the foundation which survives

This is kind of a morose update, isn’t it? I can tell by the look on your faces. Not a very good outlook is it? Not a very good outlook. Do you think that maybe God is wanting for us as His people is to loosen our grip on this world? .....to ready us for the next? And does it not take a bad outlook?

I like how one so aptly quipped, “When the outlook is bad, try the uplook.” I would suggest that that is exactly what God is trying to do in and through this bad outlook--He’s trying to get us to look up and lift up our heads, because our redemption is drawing near. This is what Jesus said in Luke 21:28: “When these things--key word--begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” I’ll add to this, not only stand up and look up, but you first need to wake up from your spiritual slumber, because this is the reality, this is what’s happening, this is what’s coming.

Bear with me as I bring it in for a close. We’re going to close the way we began, concerning some Christians being blindsided, and this should the aforementioned bad outlook come to pass. I know I run the risk of an oversimplification, but here’s the thing: the foundation upon which our lives are built will utterly determine whether or not we’ll fall. J.D. FARAG*

Luke 21:28 (Amp) Now when these things begin to occur, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near.
Rom 13:11-12 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Matt 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
1 Cor 3:10-15 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

-The fact that the Lord of Heaven has put me here at this strange, ominous, yet immensely fascinating time in history makes it all the more intriguing--even riveting, in terms of wanting to know what happens next. Courage and strength
1 Cor 16:13-14 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.
Ps 18:32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
Is 51:7 "Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults."
Rom 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

                                Speaking up for others
Prov 31:8-9 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."
Is 1:17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.
Mat 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."

Gentleness, patience, love, self-control and respect
1 Pet 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
Eph 4:2-3 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Prov 18:13 He who answers before listening--that is his folly and his shame.
Eph 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
1 Pet 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.
Prov 27:6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
Prov 27:9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.
1 Tim 5:1-2 Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
