  • How to deal with not getting a job promotion?

I was wondering how anyone here has delt with not getting a job promotion? I have more seniority and experience and have been looked over for someone who has no experience and no seniority for two different positions. I have spoken to two of the bosses about why ..one said I wasn't doing anything wrong..the other said it's just pretty much who you know.

Right now I am upset and I didn't go to the head because I thought I needed to process this..and then I also know that something greater might happen in the future..but for now how do I deal with the loss - especially having to work with the person who got the job and will probably be rubbing it in!
Isaiah 1:18 ...Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Was their favoritism?I have seen so many unfair situations in the job force.I just figure it is apart of our sinful and unfair world and just go on.I would definately pray about it and bring before God your concerns. He knows it all.

I make half of what I did 10 years ago. A third of what I made back in 2000.

Supervisory jobs are a lot more stress for not much more pay. I hated my work as a supervisor, and always felt I was awful at it.

So, I can see why God has me low man on the totem pole. For one, I have 3 blind guys at work who would be LOST without me. (I help the other vendors out too)

God created you, He has a better job.

" I have had an increasing burden to engage in some down and dirty, street evangelism." March 6, 2010

Isaiah 6:8 I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

      Matthew 22:9 NIV
'So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’

      I'm praying for you daily!

Oh, it just goes to 2 Corinthians 12:9 for me.

          I always have ENOUGH.

Recently I was pretty broke after spending over $100 on a medical problem; but when I went to the grocery store they JUST HAPPENED to be putting out the discount ground beef, and I walked off with 8 pounds for $8.

Some home repair issues have stabilized. They aren't better but they're no worse.

One day Ron found some cash in a place it shouldn't have been. It hadn't been there 3 days before.

Best of all, all 3 of us are healthy and saved.

I just die laughing over my cat when I do my God Time. I sit on a loveseat, the Bible in my lap. Kitty gets up and rubs his face against the Bible while I pet him. He does that for a couple minutes as I read, and then lies down against my leg.

He's definitely meowed to accept Jesus. He always comes to visit when I'm praying or doing Bible Study.

Yes it is favortism... I went today and spoke with the main boss about it..just got the run around and told to keep doing what I keep doing..ugh....what aggravates me is that these people who are getting these promotions are brand new people with no experience, no senority..and one of the girls doesn't even work and she's the favorite! UGH...

            Thanks for your responses!

Give all your worries and concerns to the Lord.

He might be opening another door for you later on which if you had this promoton you might not take what He has. (remember we have choices)

Do the best you can, give God all the praise and glory. Let others see you walk cheerfully even when the world wants to stomp.

Sometimes we forget who is lord of this world.

Sometimes we are thinking outside of The Lord's will.

If possible try to get some feed back, are they looking for education, specific skills, personality.
It could be you are in the wrong place.
But if it's politics, it doesn't matter how good you are.

                Find your peace in Christ. If you can, ask questions, excel in your own way and if necessary;
                move to a new employer.

                Definately Pray.
It's ALL about Jesus. The Son of God - Emanuel - The Mighty God - Our Salvation.

I know this is a lot easier said than done, but shake it off. Just always do your best.

First, your company sill not be impressed if you hold a grudge over it and 2, just be nice and if the other person lords it over you, just be nice, polite and smile. Even if it bothers you, don't give them the satisfaction of it.

We still love Jesus and you are right, God is always working in our lives. This just may not be His work for you.
Psalm 30:11-12 (New King James Version)

                  11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Thanks for all the responses: but now I have an update. I know this is going to sound strange..but my emotions are all over the place! Somethings have happened over the weekend, I believe the person knows how I feel now and she isn't excepting the job offer...said she didn't know what she done, that you win but she was finished...

If this is true..I won't know for sure till Monday...I don't know if I want to "take away" a job from another on those grounds. I want it to be fair...does that make sense? Like I said my emotions are all over..but I want to do what is right..and I feel it would be right for her to have it because people wanted her to have it, and I got to tell them my piece and they understand now...oh the mess I have created! Lord, please help me!

I may be able to assist with this dilemma based on more than three years of personal experience with the exact same problem - if you happen to work in a socialist-run organisation or bureaucracy.

If by chance you do, then please ask yourself these critical job-promoting questions.

                        Do you:
                        • Have a dazzling smile that you present as a facade every day, unfading and permanent?
                        • Partake in drunken binges and other amoral/immoral activities with your team and/or boss?
                        • Exaggerate and lie about your work abilities and accomplishments?
                        • Boast and inflate your ego at every opportunity to make yourself look better than everyone else?
                        • Pretend to work hard while neglecting quality assurance and deadlines?
                        • Have a ‘who cares’ attitude toward your work and thrive on giddy irresponsibility and unreliability?

Well if you answered ‘no’ to any or all of these otherwise socialist career-building activities and characteristics, then that is why you are being overlooked for promotions in favour of your colleagues.
