  • Summer Bible Study

I usually participate in Precepts Bible Studies in the fall and spring semesters. I have been trying to figure out what to do this summer. My church does not do any summer bible studies. They have three women's events but they are more social functions--for instance one is a game night. These do not really interest me that much. So, I have decided to reread Arnold Fruchtenbaum's In the Footsteps of the Messiah this summer. I read this many years ago. I just finished rereading the thread that Tall Timbers posted on Jan Markell's letter about the dying interest in End Times Prophecy in the Christian world-at-large and this really saddened me but confirmed my decision to immerse myself in End Times prophecy this summer. What are other folks studying/reading this summer????

I don't have any Bible study plans either. I've never read Footsteps of the Messiah so maybe I'll find a copy online and join you for the study.
I was bummed that there wasn't one for the kindle.

That would be great Koalie!!! I highly recommend this book. I have heard Fruchtenbaum speak in person twice. He is such a wealth of information.

It's a spendy book so I'm going to wait until after payday to buy it. We've had several unexpected expenses this month.
I'll let you know when I get it! I've wanted to read it in the past but just never made the purchase. I'm excited!

It's a very long book, but it's packed with information. If you lived closer, I'd let you borrow mine.

I started an online study of the book of Isaiah with Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills. It's a couple of years old, but I found the installments on Utube. Up to chapter 3 so far and I'm liking it!
Please pray for my unsaved loved-ones. Time is short.

I like Pastor Hibbs a lot. I had been following along with his Isaiah study. I think he had gotten up to Chapter 40 or 41 (that's where my bookmark is), but he's taking some time off for health reasons, so I don't know when it will pick back up.

Apparently he has a really bad sleeping disorder. He's been seeing a specialist for it though so we need remember him in prayer. It's been going on for two years! Boy, I'm a mess and good for nothing if I don't get 7-8 hours a night!

Hi All! I have the Footsteps of the Messiah and haven't gotten too far into it. I believe I will join the rest of you and make it my summer read. Great idea!

How fun! I've never read Footsteps of the Messiah, but I heard it's a great book. Let us know?

I don't have summer Bible study plans, but I'm in the Word daily. Does that count?

                          Of course it does silly!

The other Youth Leaders and I are trying to get the kids to do some more studying while they are on vacation.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

That's a great idea. Last summer my 10YO daughter read, but didn't complete, a series of kid-oriented Bible stories. The plan is for her to continue this summer.

Summer vacation is a great time for kids' Bible study: there's more time and less distractions.
