  • Iran nuclear plant explosion - did it happen or not?

WND first reported the news. I believe it's an outlawed news source here.

I'm only posting it because of Avi Dichter's response to the article:

Israel’s Home Front Defense Minister Avi Dichter on Sunday welcomed a report that Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility had been rocked by a huge explosion.

The report was published Friday on the website wnd.com, under the sensational headline: “Sabotage! Key Iranian nuclear facility hit?” It claimed that a blast deep within Fordo last Monday “destroyed much of the installation and trapped about 240 personnel deep underground,” citing information from former intelligence officer Hamidreza Zakeri, who it said used to work with the Islamic regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and National Security.

The article claimed the blast “shook facilities within a radius of three miles,” that Iranian security forces had “enforced a no-traffic radius of 15 miles,” that the Tehran-Qom highway was shut down for several hours after the blast, and that, “as of Wednesday afternoon, rescue workers had failed to reach the trapped personnel.” It said US officials were aware of the reported blast.

There was no independent confirmation of the claims. Nonetheless, Israel’s biggest-selling daily Yedioth Ahronoth led its Sunday paper with the report on the alleged blast, which it said might be “the most significant incidence of sabotage in the Iranian nuclear program to date.”

Asked about the story, Dichter, a former head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service, said, “Any explosion in Iran that doesn’t hurt people but hurts its assets is welcome.”

We have not allowed this story when others have posted it (or asked to first ) because all reports source back to WND and they are so very often sensationalistic and unreliable, hence not a source we allow.

Even WND warns that the story is ***unconfirmed***. No one else is saying this happened, just WND, of all places.

We'll leave this up for now just to inform people it is a story floating around. Apologies to the others who posted it earlier or asked if they could.

Today confirmed by the German newspaper "Welt am Sonntag":

      (translated)

After Khalili had published his report on Thursday on the news website WND, it quickly spreads among experts on Iran and the Iranian nuclear program.

So far, the message has not been confirmed by the Iranian side, and it was unclear how reliable Khalili's sources are.

Now, the "Welt am Sonntag", however, has a confirmation received from an Iranian expert with intelligence service contacts, that the explosion had actually happened.

On this evidence there are not 240, but at least about 190 workers at the nuclear plant cut off from the outside world.

WND apparently had it correct. I know Drudge Report used them just yesterday.

Israeli sources reportedly confirm blast at Iranian nuclear facility

Israeli intelligence officials have confirmed that a major explosion has rocked an Iranian nuclear facility, according to a report Monday in The Times of London.

The British daily cited officials in Tel Aviv who said the blast occurred last week, as originally reported on the website wnd.com.

Iran is not believed to have evacuated the area surrounding the Fordo plant, according to the same Israeli sources, who said that an investigation into the blast was ongoing.

Some reports of Israeli aircraft seen in the area also. Don't know how these reports will pan out, but it is interesting!

Very interesting indeed! I know Israel has a highly trained counter-terrorism/ intelligence unit. The best in the world. We will learn more.

This is quite a development. The fact that it is being kept quiet by the MSM is quite telling as well. It will be interesting to see what happens. Jesus is King.

Remember Iran is a regime just like the Syrian regime, always denying anything that may be a blow to their cause.
