  • Wow: In New Homily, Pope Francis Attacks the 'Great Accuser' for Maligning Church with Scandal

In his homily at Mass on Tuesday morning, Pope Francis said it seems the "Great Accuser" is attacking the bishops of the Catholic Church to create scandal. The Pope invited the bishops to remember three things in these troubled times: their strength lies in being men of prayer; they should have the humility to remember they are chosen by God; and they need to remain close to the people...Pope Francis said bishops need these three attitudes to face the scandal whipped up by the Great Accuser: "In these times, it seems like the 'Great Accuser' has been unchained and is attacking bishops. True, we are all sinners, we bishops. He tries to uncover the sins, so they are visible in order to scandalize the people. The 'Great Accuser', as he himself says to God in the first chapter of the Book of Job, 'roams the earth looking for someone to accuse'.

    Quote from CNS:
In these times, Pope Francis said, it seems like the devil, "the great accuser, has been let loose and he's got it in for the bishops. True, there are, we are all sinners, we bishops."

The great accuser "seeks to reveal sins, which people can see, in order to scandalize the people" of God, he said in his homily during morning Mass at Domus Sanctae Marthae.
Quote from the New King James (Matthew 10:25b-26):
If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.
    And two chapters later (12:36-37):
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
Mr. Bergoglio might want to reconsider his phraseology...just sayin'.

I posted a comment on this in a separate thread; you might want to merge them. Basically, I pointed to Jesus's words that make it clear that every secret thing will be known. It's Satan who wants to cover up evildoing, at least by his "pets"...if someone like Jerry Falwell were to have been caught in a scandal (which he never was), it would have been front page news for weeks.

I found Pope Francis's statement even more shocking than his actions. He's not even giving lip service to the victims. His only concern is covering up these grievous sins to somehow protect the image of the institution.

Is he saying God is the great deceiver for shinning the light on the evil deeds of the Roman Catholic Church?
